Air New Zealand posts schedule and operational changes to the holiday period due to engine maintenance requirements

  • November 18, 2019

Air New Zealand has posted substantial changes to it’s operational schedule due to the on-going down timing of the Boeing 787-9, Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 TEN aircraft engines.

The airline has 10 0f the faulty engines in it’s 787-9 fleet with no replacement / spare engines as back-up. There is significant wait for repairs of the engines. The fault lies with the engines’ high pressure turbine blades that require more frequent maintenance resulting in grounded aircraft.

Current flights affected as announced:

Flight Route Status
NZ105 Auckland – Sydney Cancelled 29 December
NZ108 Sydney – Auckland Cancelled 29 December
NZ107 Auckland – Sydney Cancelled 12 December, 2 January
NZ109 Auckland – Sydney Cancelled 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 29 December
NZ110 Sydney – Auckland Cancelled 12 December, 2 January
NZ112 Sydney – Auckland Cancelled 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 29 December
