Virgin Australia and Newcastle Airport have announced a three-year partnership to continue flying direct seasonal services between Newcastle and Auckland. Virgin Australia will operate three return services per week during the peak holiday period from 21 November 2019 to 16 February 2020. The services will operate on the airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft and will add 13,000 seats between the destinations.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, VA198 from Auckland to Newcastle will depart at 1710 and VA199 from Newcastle to Auckland will depart at 1930.

Virgin Australia General Manager, Network and Revenue Management, Russell Shaw said that the airline was pleased to announce a return of the seasonal service after its popularity last year. ‘We’re thrilled to be launching the seasonal service between Auckland and Newcastle for the second year in a row, and providing passengers with a more direct and seamless travel option between Auckland and Newcastle over the busy holiday period.”

“Regional NSW is a fantastic holiday destination, with pristine beaches on the Central Coast, as well as the famous Hunter Valley wine region, and we’re pleased to be able to make the journey much easier for New Zealanders to visit”, Mr Shaw said.
