Emirates all A380 service from New Zealand adds incredible value to frequent flyer miles

  • December 23, 2016

With Emirates’ all-A380 services, there’s now even more choices to get incredible value out of your frequent flyer miles.

Emirates has for some years been a significant player in the New Zealand and Trans-Tasman market offering travellers a glimpse into a luxury airline on a route otherwise dominated by the usual national carriers. As of 31 October 2016, Emirates adjusted its New Zealand flights, replacing all 777 aircraft with their flagship A380s, offering private suites, showers, wi-fi and an onboard lounge.

There have also been alterations to routing and travel options.

Christchurch

Emirates used to operate a single service routing from CHC – SYD – BKK – DXB, which resulted in a relatively long journey time for Christchurch passengers wishing to travel to Dubai.

This service was recently replaced by the A380 and changes will see the sector just operate CHC-SYD-DXB, dropping the Bangkok stopover.

Auckland

After 31 October, services will remain the same but there will be an additional service from AKL – SYD – BKK – DXB, providing a streamlined option for Auckland travellers wishing to reach Bangkok. The non-stop Dubai service was replaced with an A380 as opposed to the 777 for the 17 hour long journey.

These changes have all been upgraded to A380s, providing full-flat Business Class, private suites in First Class, an onboard shower and a luxurious onboard lounge.

This opens up new options for Christchurch travellers, who were otherwise unable to experience such a luxurious product. Emirates Economy, Business or First Class can be easily redeemed from a number of frequent flyer programs. The most significant thing to note is that Air New Zealand doesn’t offer a First Class cabin on any of their flights, so Emirates’ updated services open up a number of opportunities to indulge in a world unlike any other.
