Singapore Airlines scoops top honours

  • July 19, 2018

Singapore Airlines has been crowned this year’s ‘World’s Best Airline’ in Skytrax’s World Airline Awards. SIA also took the top spot in the ‘World’s Best First Class’, ‘Best Airline in Asia’ and ‘Best First Class Airline Seat’ categories in the 2018 rankings.

The highly decorated airline is no stranger to such accolades. This is the fourth time SIA has been named ‘World’s Best Airline’. The awards are based on surveys of more than 20 million travellers, who rated more than 335 airlines between August 2017 and May 2018. Skytrax announced the winners in London this week.
Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted says “We congratulate Singapore Airlines on this fabulous achievement, being voted the World’s Best Airline by customers for a fourth time in the awards history. A key ‘wow’ factor for customers is consistency and this proved to a real asset for Singapore Airlines who scored highly across both product and service. I am sure Singapore Airlines will also take great pride in winning the World’s Best First Class award, less than one year after they introduced their new first-class suites.”

Singapore Airlines has not only cultivated a world-leading reputation for its winning customer service and in-flight comfort, but also innovation. They are constantly refreshing their fleet. New Zealand travellers are well served by the Singapore-based premium carrier. Singapore Airlines connects Kiwis with 15 European destinations within its worldwide network, with the airline operating internationally from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The A380-800 and 777-300 services Auckland, while the next generation A350-900 will soon become the workhorse on the daily service between Christchurch and Singapore.
