Sofitel Wine Days across Australasia and the South Pacific

Taking place from September 21 until October 31 2018, the magnifique events of Sofitel Wine Days offer guests, visitors and locals the opportunity to enrich their enological knowledge through a round-the-world tour of wines in celebration of wine and French art de vivre. The traditional wine harvest period in France occurs in September and October. It was therefore only natural for Sofitel to choose this time of year to introduce guests to its annual ‘Wine Days’ programme, which is being staged between September 21 and October 31.

Sofitel has seen its expertise in wine go from strength to strength, thanks to its master sommeliers, a high-calibre wine library and the exceptional wines served during this occasion. This global Sofitel Wine Days initiative brings together hotels from around the world, hosting events that will delight amateurs and aficionados alike as they discover the secrets of wine.

Here’s a flavour of some of the Sofitel Wine Days events being held across Australia and New Zealand.

Wine Cocktails, at Sabrage Bar
The team at Sofitel Auckland have created two bespoke French wine and liqueur based cocktails for guests to sample throughout the duration of Sofitel Wine Days at the hotel’s Sabrage Bar and Lava Dining Restaurant.

Four course degustation with matching French wines (Every Friday 21 September – 31 October 2018)
Guests are invited to enjoy a four course degustation menu at Lava Restaurant designed and prepared by Sebastian Hindrichs, Executive Chef at Sofitel Auckland. Each of the five courses have been inspired by French cuisine and expertly matched with French wines from a range of different regions.
Price: $130 per person, including matching wines. $85 per person excluding wine matching

Sabrage Champagne Experience – Every Saturday from 22 September to 31 October 2018)
Guests can enjoy the thrill and spill of Champagne as the hotel toasts to the Napoleon tradition of be-heading two bottles with a ceremonial sabre. Mingle on the pontoon while enjoying complimentary canapés and the spoils of the decapped bottles of bubbles.

Sofitel French Polynesia
Cheese & wine events with French Cheese Master Oliver Poulard (October 15 – 31 2018) Sofitel French Polynesia in partnership with Air France, will welcome one of the most famous Cheese Masters, Mr Olivier Poulard – an Ambassador for French cheese culture – for a series of events around cheese and wines. Exceptional dinners and Chic Aperitifs will take place on the white sand beaches and restaurants at Sofitel Moorea Ia Ora Beach Resort and Sofitel Bora Bora Private Island from October 15 to October 31, 2018.

Sofitel French Polynesia’s annual cheese and wine events are a unique occasion to taste French terroir in the exceptional grounds of Moorea and Bora Bora. For the 4th invited year, French Cheese Master Olivier Poulard will work closely with Sommelier, Mr Fabrice Jarry, and Chef Marc Lintanf (disciple of Escoffier International 2015 and Member of Toques Blanches du Monde 2012) to showcase an exclusive French gastronomic experience.

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach
Blind Tasting, Every Friday (21st September – 26th October 2018)
Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach’s sommelier, will expands guests’ knowledge and help them discover which wine suits them best. Blind wine tasting will tempt the nose and tingle the taste buds. Blind tasting will take place between 4.30pm – 5.30pm each Friday. Guests who guess the correct wine varietal will enjoy a complimentary glass of wine in room81. Price: Complimentary

Wine Matching Degustation, 2nd – 13th October 2018
Book a table at Gold Coast Broadbeach’s two-hatted restaurant, room81, and let Chef Sam Moore take you on a memorable food journey across five delectable courses, priced at $99 per person. Upgrade to the wine matching degustation for $55 per person, and receive a second wine match complimentary.

Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
Sofitel Melbourne on Collins in partnership with Black on Body has designed a bespoke pyramid-shaped bath bomb to celebrate Sofitel Wine Days in recognition of guests who stay in the 50th floor suites, preferring to enjoy their Champagne in the spacious baths.  For a limited time from September to October, guests can enjoy handmade pyramid-shaped bath bomb, which pays homage to the famous architect I.M. Pei who designed the hotel building.

It comes with a selection of white chocolate truffles and a bottle of Taittinger Champagne for $95 when booking one of the hotels 50th floor suites. Handmade in Melbourne, each bath pyramid is infused with Grapeseed oil and a blend of essential oils. Evita High Tea with complimenting wines (21 September – 31st October)
To celebrate Sofitel Wine Days, the team at Soiree has carefully selected delicate wines to complement the Evita High Tea experience, served in Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s new Tea Lounge. Wines range from Veuve Clicquot Rose to La Boheme Rose and Fiore Moscato. Sydney’s Hotel of the Arts, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is the main sponsor of the highly anticipated Musical Evita by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber starring Tina Arena, launching in Sydney on 18th September.
